Well, Julie Andrews from the popular movie "sound of music" has revealed she's 'bonded' with her new friend Lady Gaga.

The 28-year-old singer commemorated the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday night; a performance which received rave reviews.

And Julie, who received her second Oscar nomination back in 1965 for starring in the musical, is equally moved by Gaga's show.

"I was deeply honoured by the Academy's lovely tribute to The Sound of Music, and especially touched by Lady Gaga's wonderful performance," she wrote in a statement released to Access Hollywood. Read more after the cut...


Julie joined Gaga onstage after the pop star paid tribute by singing a medley of songs from the famed musical ' including Do Re Mi, Edelweiss and Climb Every Mountain.

That moment was special for Julie in many ways as the 79-year-old icon, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1964 for her work in family classic Mary Poppins, has adored Gaga for quite some time.

"I have always been a fan, but last night we bonded and now I have a new friend," she said of the Just Dance singer.

Gaga, was also really moved by Julie's appearance on the Oscars stage. In fact, she didn't expect it at all.

"I started crying. It was a beautiful moment," she told E! News. "As a child performer and a music lover, you dream your whole life that you will get to perform for somebody like that and it was just magical.

"I had just spoken to Julie on the phone the day before and she was telling me to just relax and enjoy myself and then when she came out at the end, it was the perfect moment. I can't even explain it. It was a dream come true. It was a surprise."
